Vitral 4 (Vitralo 4)(Stained Glass 4)

A pintura ficou pronta: vitral e bases.

The painting was finished: stained glass and bases. The ink relief outlines were ready as well. The latter had to be left to dry for 72 hours, so no cuttings could be made for three days. Meanwhile, I left the auxiliary protection papers ready to speed up the cutting stages.

E os cortes já estão acontecendo.
Primeiras 150 peças de base: as claras e as escuras.

Kaj la tranĉado jam estas farataj.
Unuaj 150 bazopecoj: la helkoloraj kaj la malhelaj.

And now they are already happening.
First 150 base pieces: light and dark.

Todas as peças de base cortadas: 270

Ĉiuj bazaj pecoj tranĉitaj: 270

All base pieces cut: 270

Agora vou começar a última etapa de corte: o vitral colorido.

Ekde nun mi ekfaros la lastan tranĉadetapon: la kolorigita vitralo.

Now I am about to start the last cutting stage: the stained-glass itself.

Vitral 3 (Vitralo 3)(Stained Glass 3)

O quebra-cabeça começa a fazer jus ao nome: Vitral!

La puzlo ekmeritas sian nomon: Vitralo!
The puzzle starts living up to its name: Stained Glass!

Two questions arose during this stage of the work: the first one concerning the color of the base that will support the stained glass; the second one whether to use the finish glass-like varnish or not.

Regarding the first doubt, after much thought, I came up with a solution! I have made both a light and a dark base, thereby enabling two types of contrast to the stained glass.

Regarding the second one, I have just made up my mind: I will not apply the finish glass-like varnish.

My decision was due to a test I did earlier. Besides yellowing the whites, the glass-like varnish left everything very plastic-like instead, and that did not please me. I was also unsure if it would work well when I made the cuts. I feared the varnished glass-like surface might peel off despite having worked well in the pilot project.

This puzzle was originally designed to be small since I would experiment with new techniques, but I ended up enjoying it and would be upset if any new material used in the process damaged my work, compelling me to discard it.

Linda Richard After reading your blog about this I too am interested in seeing how this will looks upon completion.....keep tagging me please Antônia and thanks for sharing like emoticon like emoticon grin emoticon
